The Male Nude in Photography with photographs by the Barons Corvo and Von Gloeden by Joseph William Gleeson White.
This is a reprint of an article which originally appeared in 1893 in which, under a very thin veneer of 'art criticism' the author (an intimate of the British Uranian poets) extols the beauty of the young male form and the usefulness of photography as a medium for artists. The article marked the first publication in the UK of von Gloeden's photographs and helped to create a thriving market here, not least because of the inclusion of the address of one of von Gloeden's German agents at the end of the article! Reproduces three photos by Baron von Gloeden and two by Frederick Rolfe along with two unattributed photographs.
12pp sewn into card covers with paper label. Protected in acetate wrappers. Edition limited to 25 numbered copies.
