Pan's Pupil
by Forrest Reid
First published in 1905 this is the first piece of fiction by Forrest Reid to have been published. It has not been reprinted since until now. The simple story gives an insight into the beginning of the themes which would preoccupy Reid throughout his writing career - the sensitive boy, the garden, the pagan experience of the divine and so on. Reid went on to write a good number of novels most of which deal with these themes in some form or another and often have a uranian subtext.
