Randwick Woods and Other Pieces
By Leonard Green
Leonard Green was a Gloucestershire man writing at the time of the First World War. He published two books of prose 'fancies' a genre not really known today, both these books are rare and expensive today. He managed to merge his interests in high-church Christianity, pagan and classical ideals, a love of the Gloucester countryside and a love of the 'raven-haired' Glocestershire lad, as well as his horror at the loss of so many of these latter in the war, into quite delightful little pieces of prose. This booklet reprints three short pieces by Green from his Dream Comrades and Other Prose Sketches originally published in 1916.
The pieces are 'Randwick Woods', 'The Religion of the Eyes', and 'Dream Comrades'. He was well connected with the wider circle of Uranian poets and was known among the small literary coterie of gay men in the Edwardian period.
