Six Poems
by Jocelyn Brooke.
Originally published by the author in 1928 at Oxford in a limited edition of 50 that first edition has become vanishingly rare. These poems are some of Brooke's earliest writing and they reflect a delicate sensibility, heavily influenced by the decadance of the 1890s. Of the six poems: 'Sonnet', 'Pavanne', 'En Bateau', 'Raymond', 'Pastorale' and 'For a Lady on a Horse', at least two have a strong homoerotic tone and all display the beginnings of the concerns which Brooke would continue to explore, mainly in prose, throughout his life. There is even mention of orchids.
This is a numbered edition of 50 copies printed on white Fabriano ingres paper and sewn into green card covers. The cost is £9.99 + P&P.
